The variety of hummingbirds in Costa Rica is amazing when coming from an area where we only have one species. I wasn't even in the country at the best time to photography hummingbirds but was very happy with the diversity I observed. I didn't photograph all the species I saw but here are a few. Some were photographed with high speed flash and some were natural light.

It is always fun to find owls, I was happy to see 4 species on my trip.

Toucans and Aracari are large, colorful neotropical birds. It was exciting to observe and photograph these amazing birds.

In a specially designed blind I was able to get photos of black and king vultures. It was impressive to be so close and watch them interact. Here are just a few of the many photos I took.
